Update and Something Ordered ...

I made some progress on my Stoelzel's Structures' Local Pub this weekend; all the windows are fully 'glazed' [what a goddamn pain that was! Carl - don't make windows that small again! grrr!  ;) ] and the next step is to do the doors. Once they are done, I'll be ready to assemble the building, and then there will be pictures - honest!

It's nice to see Ironmonk back posting over at his blog - Zed Storm Rising - and his latest post on card vehicles, reminded me of my mention in this post - quick-update on 24 July - about my intent to build a convoy of Ebbles Trucks. I can't remember how far I got with that, but as the drawer unit with them in is still at home and not in storage yet, I'll try and get some photos of what I did make done tonight.

Mantic Ghouls as Ragers ...
not so happy with them now :(
And finally for this update ... I've been 'umming and ahhing'  about whether to order this set from Mantic Games for several months now ... I wanted to get some more 'ragers' (for which I've used Mantic's ghouls) and wanted some zombies that wouldn't look out of place up against my Edwardian Sci-Fi stuff, and IIRC Brummie at Brummies Wargaming Blog, posted on the Mantic zombies saying they were good.  Plus the tombstone markers will help expand my small cemetary terrain piece.  So this morning I bit the bullet and placed the order. More on this when they arrive!

So the 60 undead in that set plus the Studio Miniatures plastic zombies from their kickstarter project that should arrive soon, will give me a plastic mountain to match my lead mountain!

  1. Colin, I have the Mantic Gravestalkers set and I am quite impressed with it. There is a good mix of zombies and ghouls in it (which are interchangable) plus three sprues of tombstones. Admittedly, I haven't made any, but I am pleased that I have them. My own plastic figures mountain is getting way out of hand! Sigh!

    1. Thnaks for letting me know Bryan, especially about the interchangeable bit as I have a bunch of hands left over from my previous build of the ghouls so I might use them on the zeds.

That's teh nature of our hobby - ooh-shiny-itis is a curse!

  2. I started painting 2 Mantic ghouls this morning. I like them so far (was an eBay impulse buy. I only need a few ragers so I doubt I shall get a box, but is great to know they are interchangable .

    1. There's no such thing as coincedence! I WAS reading your mind! honest!

If you let me know how many ragers you need/want I could spare a few?

  3. I've only really heard good thing about the Mantic plastics, so I'm sure they'll do you well. And with the Studio Plastics on their way, you will be busy.
Can't wait to see them fill up a horde.

    1. Ah ... weeeelllllll ... it's like this ...

First: "only heard good things" - that I like!

Second: "Can't wait to see them fill up a horde" - this is not good ... as you probably know, I'm not the fastest in the world at painting figures once I have them; I'm not even the second fastest actually! More like the slowest, so I think you'll have to wait. Sorry!

  4. They are good fodder mate to make up the numbers you can only get a few poses that are very similar but if you get the ghouls as well you can chop and change a bit more to your hearts content. They look better than the male WGF set the details are quite nice.

Look forward to the Studio set I didn't pledge so will be waiting for them to hit the stores.

    1. tbh Brummie, I don't think they could be much worse than the WGF set and still look vaguely human-ish. I'll get pics of the Studio minis up when I have them (at some point anyway!)
